From Shrewsbury take the A458 Welshpool road and TURN RIGHT just beyond Ford Village along the B4393 (signposted Lake Vyrnwy). Make for Llansantffraid-Ym-Mechain : TURN LEFT just beyond the bridge and TURN RIGHT at the far end of the village. In approximately 4 miles, TURN RIGHT onto the A490 at the T-Junction. The A490 ends in the town.

From the north, visitors who are travelling from Oswestry on then A483 to Welshpool need to TURN RIGHT for Llansantffraid at Llynclys cross-roads. Then simply follow signs to Llanfyllin.
